Elyria Pioneer builds a housing empire on trailers
Kenneth Sommer, a Kings Point graduate, left the Merchant Marines to settle in Elyria Ohio. He bought Pikewood Manor in 1948 expanding to 400 manufactured homes priced 20 000 to 40 000. He co founded Dycom fiber optic firm and markets modular homes under North Shore Homes selling 38 units last year.
