First evidence of icy exocomets around sunlike star HD 181327
Scientists report the first hint of icy comets orbiting a sunlike star about 160 light years away, via ALMA observations of carbon monoxide in a dusty debris disk around HD 181327. The study, by an international team, notes the system is young at 23 million years and the disk results from collisions in a former protoplanetary stage.
