Upgrades Aim to Improve Toledo Wastewater Plant
The $35 million overhaul planned for June will replace mechanical components at the wastewater treatment plant. Officials say upgrades will produce cleaner water, reduce phosphorus discharge, and help prevent algal blooms like the 2014 Toledo incident. About 20 percent of Lake Erie's phosphorus comes from wastewater plants, with most from farm runoff via the Maumee River. Contact Jon Wysochanski at 329-7123 or jwysochanski chroniclet.com.
