Lawson clerk beaten shot in Avon Lake store robbery
Avon Lake Ohio police report a 29 year old Lawson Milk Co clerk Kathy Pavlovich attacked during a midnight robbery at 118 Moore Rd. She was pistol whipped and shot three times, later found by a resident and taken to St. Joseph Hospital in serious condition. The robber escaped with an undetermined amount of cash and cigarettes as investigators seek leads. Weather brief notes follow on page C 1.

Test track eyed in Lorain County for Shinkansen demo
Lorain County may host a high speed rail test track for Japan's Shinkansen. State Rep. John V. Bara and colleagues seek 15 miles of unused rail or right of way in the 54th district.
