Fire destroys Wellington home. family sheltered by hose
Fire Chief Pat Arnold reported a blaze early Sunday at 100 Johns Street in Wellington. A shaft in a floor lamp socket above a Davenport ignited sparks, quickly spreading to an attic above the living room of a four room bungalow. Mr and Mrs Clark and Mr and Mrs Charles Shepard used a garden hose to fight the fire until the department arrived. Clark and Shepard suffered minor injuries and Clark rescued their dog. Insurance covers the loss.

37 Veterans Seek Homes In Gulf Road Project
Thirty seven applications for homes in a proposed temporary housing project on Gulf road were filed with the Elyria Veterans Service Center yesterday and more were expected today.
