Fire crews battle blaze at Edison plant

Six fire departments fought a late afternoon fire at the Ohio Edison plant on Lorain's lakefront near Oberlin and West Erie. The blaze started on the ground floor amid asbestos removal and spread up a conveyer belt to boiler rooms, with no active power generation. Firefighters controlled the flames in about 45 minutes, using tanker trucks and a county water shuttle, while residents observed from nearby streets.

ODOT plans ramp fixes at I 90 and 57

ODOT designs upgrade for the I 90 and SR 57 interchange in Elyria. The plan includes removing the 49th Street bridge, converting ramps at Midway Mall Boulevard and Griswold Road to traffic light controlled intersections, and shifting southern ramps to enter and exit I 90 farther north.
