Ida Hays of La Grande Oregon underwent an eight hour operation at New York University Hospital to reposition her eyes nose and jaw. Surgeons led by Dr John Marquis Converse used skull removal brain adjustment hipbone wedges and implants to bring her eyes closer together. The hometown raised about $10000 to aid the reconstruction and Ida remains in intensive care awaiting final outcome.
