Strikers Aid Lorain Fire in Downtown Blaze
About 20 striking firefighters helped battle a downtown Lorain two story brick building fire in the 1600 block of Broadway. Fire Chief James Kallis said 40 men on five pumpers and an aerial truck fought the blaze, which could have caused a wider disaster. Three strikers were hospitalized for smoke inhalation. The exact cause and damage estimate remained undetermined.
