Strike Of Power Co Employees Begins In Bay City
DETROIT May 19 A threatened strike of 1500 Consumers Power employees began to affect Bay City as power was cut off despite Gov Frank Murphy warning there must be no strike. Emergency talks involved Bay City Flint and Saginaw officials. UAW leaders pledged to maintain emergency power to hospitals orphanages and sewage systems. Miss Ruth Baumgardner 22 Ohio Wesleyan University student missing since May 1 was found by police at Motel Brunswick in the Back Bay. She registered as Dr. W R Maher and said strain of college work drove her to escape from herself. She had borrowed 200 from her sorority and had 51 cents left. She traveled through Cleveland Buffalo and Albany and had been in Boston since Thursday. Police wired Ohio Wesleyan University for further information.

Union Protest Halts Most Studebaker Plant Work

About 7 000 workers affected with only the foundry remaining active. Governor Davey signed the Boyd Bill creating a 48 hour week and 8 hour day for women workers with a 90 day referendum to become law.
