At Ewing Fieldhouse Lorain County Community College held its 61st commencement with more than 600 graduates and hundreds of supporters. President Marcia Ballinger praised the families and graduates for their pride and future opportunities.
Hundreds across Lorain County joined the 24th Keep Lorain County Beautiful Day organized by the Lorain County Solid Waste Management District. In Elyria volunteers at Ely Square Park and East Falls Riverwalk planted 350 new plants, while a group organized by LCCAA prepared the Elyria Public Library South Branch community garden. Local leaders thanked contributors from Commstar Credit Union and the Elyria Little League Legends for aiding efforts.
Principal Brian Siftar congratulated 67 Columbia High School graduates as they received diplomas amid light rain. Class President Addison Stair praised the Class of 2025's growth and urged students to cherish small moments together.
A 16 year old Bay Village student Dylan Veselic who died after a May 6 lacrosse injury will have a visitation at St. Raphael Catholic Church from 4 30 to 8 p m followed by a funeral service the next day Veselic will be buried at Sunset Memorial Park The Bay Village schools released the funeral details with the Veselic family approval and the lacrosse community nationwide has offered support including Ohio State University lacrosse team during its NCAA tournament run.
No injuries reported after a black SUV drove into the east glass wall of Sycamore Suites on Midway Boulevard overnight. Police arrested Simon Cruz Aguilar in connection with the crash after officers found an abandoned vehicle near the hotel.
