Aging brain vessels link to higher fall risk in elderly
A study of 420 adults over 65 found that reduced vasoreactivity in brain vessels during stress correlates with slower gait and a 70 percent higher fall risk. Researchers used ultrasound to measure blood flow at rest and during rapid breathing and tracked falls over a 12 foot gait test.
