County Offers Post Office To Elyria At 75000
Elyria and Lorain County discuss selling the Broad Street post office for 75000 to settle a pending suit potentially worth at least 50000 City Council rejected the offer saying the price is too high County bought the building for 125000 in 1981 and the court award dispute centers on refunds and interest from a 1968 interpretation of state law The county may revisit the offer after consulting commissioners.

Driver who killed couple is released from jail
A Cuyahoga Falls man, John R. Caine, 32, was released from Lorain County Jail after one month and placed on five years of probation for a Sept. 11 crash that killed Francis Mansfield and Edith Mansfield. He was sentenced earlier to six months in jail and fined 1000 dollars after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor vehicular homicide counts. The judge cited remorse and family strain, noting Caine may drive to work and back.
