Spencer trustees pursue title to ancient private cemetery
Spencer trustees will seek ownership of an old private cemetery at the Pawnee and New London Eastern Roads corner. Heirs are missing and the deed restricts use to a cemetery, so trustees may assume title for summer maintenance with help from the Spencer Historical Society. The panel also awarded a $4,940 bid to T A Construction Co for a 24 by 32 foot steel building on Washington Street for cemetery storage. They discussed road dust control with oil mats, weekly grading of township roads, and a May 7 Clean-Up Day with 19 participants. They consider seeding grass around the Veterans monument area to allow mowing and note prior flowers planted around the monument.

Abduction charges leveled against Iron Coffins members
Seven Iron Coffins Motorcycle Club members were re indicted on abduction charges over a January clubhouse ownership dispute with the Spokesmen. The defendants pled not guilty and were released on bond after arraignment. Two bikers were trapped and beaten during the clash at 1301 Brownell Ave. Jurors named Bennett, McGowan, Dennis, Clark, Lathrop, Hmelewski, and Keene as abduction defendants with Hmelewski also charged with felonious assault and Keene with felonious assault and aggravated robbery.
