Elyria City Board of Education approved employing 165 teachers for the 1932 33 year a net decrease of six from this year. The grade school corps is trimmed by eight with two transfers to Elyria High School to address high school needs. Four layoff positions remain to meet the board's economy plan. Salary cuts are 10 percent for most teachers with some above 2 700 annual pay receiving 15 percent cuts. Principal C P Shively’s contract is renewed at a 15 percent reduction for one year.
