Predators Move In To Curb Idaho Pelicans On Gull Island

In southeastern Idaho the Idaho Fish and Game released five predators three badgers and two skunks onto Gull Island in the Blackfoot Reservoir to deter American white pelicans from nesting. Two collared badgers swam to shore and one skunk with collar remains on the island while others disappeared. Biologists note adaptive management risks and ongoing efforts to reduce pelican numbers at Blackfoot Reservoir and Lake Walcott by 2013.
