Cordelia Robbins remembered as gung ho newswoman at CT
Cordelia Robbins, longtime Chronicle Telegram editor and Sunday magazine head, died after collapsing at home. Born in New Haven and educated at Madison College, she joined CT in 1962, fought throat cancer, and earned the Front Page Award for courage and dedication. Survived by two brothers and her mother, services set in Hopewell Virginia and Elyria.

Lorain VICA state champion in engine repair title
Lorain County Joint Vocational School senior Ken McKisic from Firelands district won Ohio VICA Skill Olympics gold in small engine and motorcycle repair. He advances to Phoenix nationals June 24 28. McKisic's instructor is Larry Tracey. The event featured fifty nine contests over two days amid National VICA Week.

In Elyria on Parmaly Ave a lamp cord shorted triggering a blaze that gutted the Allgood home living room and damaged the foyer and first floor. Fire damaged about 10 000 dollars of the house and 5 000 dollars of contents. the family with no insurance seeks lodging at Days Inn via the Red Cross.

Three elected to board at Wellington hospital
Wellington three persons were elected to the Wellington Community Hospital board at the annual meeting. Larry Peterson was re elected for a three year term. Richard Higgins and Dan Trinter were elected as new trustees. Incumbents Norton and Kimmich did not seek reelection. Rollin and Norton were defeated in bids. Hospital opened in 1962. Savings bonds recognizing long service were presented to staff. administrator Snyder announced project progress on the $650000 expansion at 95 percent complete.

Lakes water levels stay dangerously high across Great Lakes
In a May update the U S Army Corps of Engineers reports all five Great Lakes remain extremely high and will rise through October. Lake Erie in April posted a record monthly high but was slightly below that peak for the first time since 1985 as the International Joint Commission directs Ontario and Superior outflows.
