Rate Cut Announced for Farmers Loans by Elyria PCA
May M. Phillips, secretary treasurer of the Elyria Production Credit Association, announced a reduction in new loan interest from five and a half percent to five percent. The cut applies to all new loans immediately and lasts until further notice, not affecting existing loans. The PCA serves Summit, Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, Erie and Huron counties, and has already received loan applications totaling 36000. The rate decrease follows a sale of federal intermediate credit bank debentures to investors at a lower rate. The PCA borrows from the federal intermediate credit bank of Louisville, Ky. This is the second reduction in two months, after a prior cut from six to five and one half percent on March 16.
