Doris Marie Reber, a Plymouth High School senior confined to a wheelchair after a tractor accident, received her diploma at Gates Hospital in Elyria. Family, teachers, and hospital staff gathered as the class of 98 sent off one member with a ceremony led by Superintendent M. J. Coon and principal Mrs. Lanius, with invocations, songs, and the valedictory by Jessie Steele.

Nine boards of education including East Carlisle West Carlisle Eaton Grafton Belden LaGrange Columbia Penfield and Elyria Township met with the county board to discuss consolidation. Hess wins discus at district meet at Rhodes High
Elyria High School senior Armand Hess took first in the discus with a 133 feet 10 inches throw, the best in Pioneer history. Woman injured in Route 20 accident near Route 58
Norma M. Disler of Cleveland sustained lacerations above the eye and facial abrasions after being thrown from her car in a Friday afternoon crash on Route 20 about a half mile east of Route 58. Her vehicle, lightly damaged, was forced off the road as a truck and a Stow Transport Leasing Co semi truck passed. The semi, driven by William C. Middlebrough of Bradford Pa, suffered little damage. Disler’s car rolled 165 feet into a field before stopping.

Wellington Soldier Dies in Kentucky Automobile Crash
Pvt. Donald J Kies 23 son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Kies of 617 Henrick Ave Wellington was killed at Georgetown Kentucky at 2 30 am in an automobile crash that also claimed two other service members. He had been en route home for his first fur lough since entering the service in February and had been at Ft Benning one week after transfer from Camp Rucker. Two Men Suffer Knife Wounds in Bolero Club Parking Fight
A 3.30 a.m. brawl in the Bolero Club parking yard on Route 113 left James Halitzka and Alex Leko with serious knife wounds. The victims, ages 20 and 21, were joined by Lowell Lessier when six unidentified men in a car challenged them.
