National YWCA Executives From Holland Visit Elyria
Miss Jacoba Aalbers national secretary of rent work for the YWCA in Holland will visit Elyria in May 2022 to study race relations and YWCA programs. She directs about 30 000 of the 35 000 Dutch members, traveling by Wiegele and emphasizes village and town work. Aalbers harbored Jewish refugees during the Nazi occupation and learned to conceal her identity, claiming strong acting skills. She is a clergyman's daughter turned teacher and YWCA organizer who returned to service during the war and sees Dutch youth eager for community projects and peace time activity. Plans are underway for Elyrians to meet her.
