Firestone Recall Consideration By U.S. Safety Agency
New York reports that the Transportation Department and NHTSA found Firestone steel belted tires may fail federal safety rules. A public hearing set for June 12 will decide if a recall order should be issued. If ordered, it would be the largest product recall in history. Firestone says bias ply tires were phased out mid decade in favor of radial steel belted tires.
