General Industries Company in Elyria received a large annual order from Ford Motor Company for bakelite parts and automobile horns. Vice president Homer Stephens said the order totals about $1,000 per day and could continue for a year.
Washington May 14 The coast guard concentrates efforts to apprehend a certain ship said to be involved in the Lindbergh case around Long Island and New York City. Some 75 vessels including six destroyers join a search from Virginia to northern Massachusetts. Officials hope a definite clue to the kidnappers will come within four hours as twenty four patrols remain in force with constant radio links among patrol vessels land bases and police authorities.
Captain Frank H. Lackmann of the yacht Marcon, used by Norfolk negotiators in Lindbergh baby talks, says kidnappers intended to abduct Col. Charles A. Lindbergh. He notes the men asked no Transom beforehand and claimed they would return the child safe, relying on Mr Curtis to pay later.
County commissioners faced unemployed men at their office seeking road work. Men were sent to the county or state engineer for hiring. Commissioner Peebles discussed the issue with State Engineer A P Lagton, who said the county was leading relief efforts.

The Rt. Rev. Msgr James A McFadden was named auxiliary bishop of Cleveland by Vatican authorities. He has served as chancellor of the Cleveland Diocese and established St. Agnes Church in Elyria, where he played a major civic role. He will assist Bishop Joseph Schrembs, continuing a long relationship with the diocese.
