Ex teachers cultivate fern empire in Apopka Florida
Fender's Flora near Apopka bills itself as the foliage plant capital of the world with about 250000 ferns and two children in a family operation run by William and Susan Fender. The couple shifted from teaching eight years ago to raise ferns at home and sell to wholesale markets, displaying Tree Maidenhair Staghorn and other varieties in a 28000 square foot greenhouse.
