Mile A Johnson 93 of Wellington died Sunday. Survived by sons Cecil and Ted. Friends may call Sunday at Norton Funeral Home Wellington with services Monday at 11 am. Burial in Sullivan Cemetery. Peggy Wynona Smith 54 of North Ridgeville died. Survived by husband Clayton W son Donald and daughter Mrs Sandra Bihn. Call 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday at Bogner Funeral Home North Ridge. Services Monday 1 30 pm. Burial Resthaven Memory Gardens Avon.
A Berea home on 444 Rocky River Drive suffered heavy smoke damage and burns in the living room and kitchen after a couch fire spread from a nearby candle. James Bonsel and his cat were inside. Bonsel escaped unharmed. Estimated loss ranges from 15 000 to 20 000 dollars.
The United Church hosts an open house for Pete Avery from 2 to 5 p.m. at Society Hall. Local residents are invited to meet Avery and learn about his work and plans.
Elyria area council to discuss a Kroger store remodeling project in Sheffield Lake. Lorain County Economic and Industrial Development Corp. plans to issue 800000 in industrial revenue bonds for equipment and renovations at 41700 Ivanhoe Road with completion set for November 1.

Elyria Memorial Hospital honored 144 employees at its annual Employee Recognition Dinner. Heading the list were Charlene Everling a 30 year registered nurse and Willie Mayo in housekeeping. Other long service awards included Mary Faye Atkinson James Lawrence Agnes Zelinski 25 years and 25 year group.
NeighborsWilliam and Mrs Caywood sued Camden Town dairy farm over noxious odors from a manure storage pond claiming their home was unlivable. case dismissed after out of court settlement with Wacker Brothers purchasing the Caywoods property and providing additional compensation.
A Sunday rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at three Lorain County locations the Lorain County Fairgrounds in Wellington North Ridge Plaza in North Ridgeville and Sheffield Center in Sheffield Township. The $4 per shot fee covers a three year dog protection and a one year cat protection. Dogs must be six months or older and cats at least three months old. Sponsors include the Lorain County Farm Bureau Women the Lorain County Health Department and the Lorain County Veterinary Medical Association.
The annual Eaton Township Blood Bank will be held May 23 at the Eaton Fire Station from 4 p.m. to 8 30 p.m. The Lorain County Blood Bank at Eaton is sponsored twice yearly by the Firebelles, the fire department ladies auxiliary. Previous collections reached 43 pints and organizers hope to exceed that total this month.
Carl Latina, 25, a limousine service chauffeur, was found guilty on five drug charges after police, posing as a call girl operator, hired him to drive to a Bratenahl mansion and recorded conversations. He faces at least five years on counts including offering to sell cocaine and using a car for drug business.
