Muller Food Products plans plant at Gateway site

A new food products company may build on the southwest corner of Gateway Boulevard and Woodford Avenue in Elyria, creating about 100 jobs on urban renewal land. Muller Food Products Inc would use three to five acres, total 150000 square feet, and ship dehydrated foods by truck or rail to retail chains. Founders include Robert Eberhart Scribner Faver and Bob Williams with architect Warren Finkel. The plan was tabled for driveway and height limits discussions, pending site approvals.

No new Arias trial in Gerhart slaying

Convicted murderer Manuel Arias was denied a new trial by Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Floyd D. Harris. Arias, 22, of the Grim Reapers, was found guilty of strangling 19 year old Christine Gerhart last March and sentenced to 15 years to life. The motion followed a juror's misinterpretation of voting form instructions and Harris ordered further briefs before deciding.
