Mothers Seek Balance In Discipline Over Children
Excerpted from Elaine Heffner's Mothering 1978 explores how mothers seek control over their children and themselves, the limits of physical and psychological coercion, and the value of listening, delaying, and compromising to teach consideration and self-control. The text discusses persuasion, restraint, and the goal of peaceful conflict resolution within the mother child dynamic. Tomorrows feature promises a continuation of the mother child dialogue.
