Harlequin Enterprises filed a lawsuit in Toronto alleging Kim Publishing copied plots from five Harlequin romances and distributed them as Macfadden Romances. The case centers on a boy who plagiarizes a girl's romance plots and publishes them as his own.
Fifty unidentified Peoples Temple children nine years old and younger were laid to rest in a concrete crypt hillside grave in East Oakland. Parents wept as caskets were stacked two high, awaiting final marks from a single stone monument. Evergreen Cemetery received the bodies after other Bay Area cemeteries refused, while Reverend John Lane urged compassion and forgiveness.
