Jury finds Evans guilty and recommends mercy death

Black activist Fred Evans was found guilty of first degree murder for the Glenville shootings. Alliance losses mount as new Vietnam offensive erupts

Enemy forces shelled 159 allied sites in Vietnam in the largest 24 hour attack since February 1963. In night battles northwest of Saigon and near Da Nang, more than 300 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong were reported killed as U.S. casualties reached 17 dead and 136 wounded. The Viet Cong conducted terrorist strikes in Saigon and other cities, with 70 rocket and mortar attacks causing casualties or damage, while 89 were deemed insignificant.
