Hundreds See Elyria High School Exhibition of Student Work

The Elyria High School biennial exhibition transformed the Technical Building into a combined department store and workshop. Visitors toured the gym, classrooms, and halls to view sewing, woodworking, typing, shorthand, mimeograph displays, and many other student projects including a diving helmet, furniture groups, foods, nursery, art samples, marionette workshop, and blueprint displays.

British Warships Off Holland Coast Reported

London May 11 The London Evening Standard said British warships are off the coast of Holland cooperating with the Dutch navy to protect the Dutch coast. The units include destroyers submarines and minesweepers working together with Dutch forces.

Belgian Troops Hold Off Germans Under King Leopold

Belgian forces led by King Leopold reported holding off German ground and air attacks. The war office said contact with the enemy remained at many points and overnight German parachutists were largely captured. Fifteen German planes were shot down as raids and bombardments continued along the Alber Canal the Meuse and the Ardennes.

German planes bomb Amsterdam reported by the press

German airplanes bombed Amsterdam today, dropping explosives on the center between the Royal Palace and the main railroad station. At least seven people were killed and 18 wounded in the attack.
