A 14 year old girl told police her Romani parents sold her to two families, once for about $11 000. Authorities released her to her mother in Fresno five days later. Arizona and California officials questioned legality of such sales and charges were dropped. Detective and sheriff's offices described the case as bizarre while noting no state or federal law clearly bans child selling.
