Berea to seek bids for janitorial service
Berea council approves advertising for bids to hire a private janitorial firm for city hall despite objections from Councilwoman Mary Silverman who favors local employment and closer supervision. Officials estimate private cleaning could cost 12 000 to 15 000 annually versus 18 600 in 1981 with one full time custodian, and some unofficial bids range 10 000 to 12 000. The current custodian would be temporary until a contract starts around July 1.
