Republicans nominate Horner and Robertson in Huron County

Voters renominated two Republican county commissioners for the November race. Arthur F. Horner led with 1 950 votes and Donald Rabertenn Robertson had 1 823 to face Democrats Maurice B. Smith and Richard Pflieger who had 1 108 and 1 020 votes respectively. Other GOP candidates trailed, while no Democrats sought nomination for several other county offices.

Erie County primary yields mostly uncontested offices

Erie County voters faced mostly uncontested races in the primary. Only the county commission contests showed activity with incumbents and challengers. Results include George Steinemann 3963 votes to Paul Work 4259 for prosecutor, and other party tallies for clerk of courts, sheriff, recorder, treasurer, engineer, coroner, and state representative races.

Erie County commissioners race heads to November after primary

Republicans Francis D. Young and Gerald R. Murphy lead a six man field for Erie County Board of Commissioners. Young 2,285 votes and Murphy 1,632 unofficially. Democrats Frederick H. Deering 2,640 votes and Richard J. Malone 1,764. Other GOP candidates include Hafner 1,327 Cassidy 1,419 Sherman 1,306 Bickley 822. Democratic also rans were Valli 1,195 Delahunt 1,130 Proy 942. North Ridgeville French Creek Water and Sewer Committee meets tomorrow at 8 p.m. to approve bylaws for a four-community council of governments including North Ridgeville Avon Sheffield and Sheffield Lake.
