Remove Gloss To Give Wood Satiny Finish
A dull or satin finish on varnish or enamel is obtained by removing the natural glass with pumice stone and water or oil after the last coat has dried. Allow three to eight days. Rub with thick felt dampened in water or oil then in pumice. If oil is used, choose a heat grade motor oil or raw linseed oil with benzine or paraffin. Rub lightly, especially on edges to avoid rubbing through. Mouldings may use a short stiff brush. Wash off pumice with clear water and dry. Clean corners with an orange stick.
