Elyria Lawyer Gardiner Whitehead Dies on Vacation
Gardiner H. Whitehead 63 an Elyria attorney died Thursday morning on vacation in Kentucky. He was born in Elyria, long a area resident, and affiliated with Lawyer's Title Insurance Corp of Cleveland from which he retired. He attended Adelbert College Western Reserve University and Case Western Reserve Law School with studies in Barcelona and belonged to Delta Tau Delta and several Masonic bodies. He is survived by his wife Eleanor (nee Holliday) and other mourners.

Crash victim still in hospital in Elyria
A 21 year old Elyria man, Alex Wojtko of 449 Kenyon Drive, remained in critical condition in the ICU at Elyria Memorial Hospital after his motorcycle struck a pickup driven by Richard Ross, 43, of 43067 Dellefield Road on Cleveland Street. Passenger Mary Mantle, 16, of North Ridgeville, was listed in fair condition. No charges have been filed by police.

Rocky River sewer expansion prices rise amid bids review
The Rocky River Waste Water Treatment Plant expansion estimate increased after a bid review following March submissions. County commissioners severed ties, transferring operation to the four member communities Westlake Rocky River Bay Village and Fairview Park under the West Shore Regional Sewer District.
