Spinal Fluid Clues Point to Early Alzheimer's Markers
Researchers report cerebrospinal fluid measures of abnormal beta amyloid and tau proteins predict Alzheimer's with 92 percent accuracy in a large National Institute of Mental Health study. The work suggests biomarkers may enable earlier diagnosis though autopsy remains the only definitive test. Separately, studies from Milner and colleagues tie estrogen to brain spine growth and learning, potentially explaining higher female risk after menopause.

Wallhead Anniversary Celebrates 50 Years at Elyria Church
Wallhead Bill and Diane Wallhead marked their 50th wedding anniversary. They wed April 18, 1953 at Washington Avenue Christian Church in Elyria, the church's first couple. He is a former Fisher Body GM employee from Elyria, moved to Mississippi in 1979, retired in 1990, and they have since traveled widely. An April 27 tea at Washington Avenue Christian Church celebrated the occasion.
