Lorain delays action on new fire pumpers

Lorain City Council postponed buying two fire pumpers to allow more time to decide if one or two should be purchased. The $66,000 annual lease cost for five years plus a $36,000 down payment would total about $396,000, nearly depleting the equipment fund. Some members propose charging the utilities department for city services to add about $44,750 for the general fund, earmarked for equipment.
