Ford may cut shift at Lorain plant after July changeover
Ford Motor Co officials are considering eliminating one shift at Lorain assembly after the yearly model changeover in July. UAW Local 425 president Peter Pavlich said the company is “talking” and a decision could come soon, potentially idling about 1,500 workers. The plant builds Ford Thunderbird Mercury Cougar XR-7 and Ford vans. The changeover will pause work about three weeks, with ongoing layoff affecting both passenger and van lines this week and a longer idle for the van line.
