City officials use short-term investment to smooth cash flow from monthly income tax receipts and to fund capital projects such as a 3 million dollar water works expansion. Auditor Dale Kellogg notes investments face staff constraints and that funds remain in noninterest checking accounts awaiting future obligations.
Thirty nine parents attend the April 17 meeting of Cub Scout Pack 123 in LaGrange. Awards include Bobcat Ross Farr Wolf Troy Turner Gary Carlson patch and arrows, Brian Myers patch, Gregory Wilcox patch, Bear Frank Hildebrandt Dan Opfer Gregory Marsh, Webelos Frank Hildebrandt, Robert Norton and John Hopkins receive Arrow of Light, the highest Cub Scout honor carried to Boy Scouts. Den Chief Rick Carlson also cited.
Scouting events include Troop 118 poster judging for Scout-A-Rama with Chief Miller Mayor Grabenstetter and Ray Ketchum. Troop 670 camp at Camp Timberlane. Troop 540 creates Easter tree for Elyria Memorial Hospital pediatric ward. Brownie Troop 520 learns knots, hikes Cascade Park, and prepares to “fly up” on May 12. St Maarten border detail notes despite no guards.
Mental health programs will be open to the public for one week at Brecksville Veterans Administration Hospital to observe Mental Health Week. Sessions run through May 10 at 10000 Brecksville Rd. with morning 10 a.m. and afternoon 1 30 p.m. meetings moderated by psychologists psychiatrists and dieticians.
The Avon Research Club will meet at 1 pm Friday at the Dover Chalet Restaurant. After luncheon, Mrs. Alfred Gerhardt will present a resume of the group’s activities over the past year.
