Antiwar protesters extend their campaign with Congress as a new target after 10 000 arrests and police action. Militant leaders urged a noon Capitol rally while most resist further street clashes amid 1 000 troops on patrol. In Bloomington Indiana officials delay vote tally as Little League teams are formed.
Mrs Ursula Buckhold, 61, of 5028 East 117th Street, Garfield Heights, died from head injuries after a van struck her car broadside at Chestnut Ridge Road and Route 87. Her husband Arthur Buckhold, 69, was treated and released at Elyria Memorial Hospital for head and scalp injuries. The Lorain County coroner’s investigator reported the fatality occurred at about 6 20 PM yesterday.

About 200 Kent State students blocked Rockwell Hall in a civil disobedience protest during memorial ceremonies for four students. The sit-in followed a Lane speech and drew some outside speakers, while officials announced a no-arrest policy and kept riot police on standby.
Zahorec Rocked a crowded Democratic field in Lorain to capture the mayoral nomination with 5 344 votes. He topped Councilman at large Michael Bulzom and other contenders including Norbert Denners and John Michael Ryan. Mathna won the Republican primary over Bernard Henderson. Local turnout reached 17 773 with strong party organization cited as key to Zahorec's victory.
Elyria Mayor Leonard P Reichlin defeated Howard M Saddler for the Democratic nomination by more than a 2 to 1 margin. Reichlin received 2,882 votes to Saddler’s 1,136, while Republican Andrew J Foreman Jr ran unopposed for his party’s nomination with 2,544 votes.
Lorain County voters renewed a 3 mill levy for 10 years to finance park land acquisition. The renewal, approved 12 778 to 10 435, funds about 275000 additional annual dollars and supports Lake Carlisle expansion and other reservations. Local officials touted the vote as a step toward public park access and development.
An 84 year old Oberlin woman Mrs Hattie Hiscox was found in a pond near her home after a reported dizzy spell. She died later at Oberlin Allen Hospital. The Lorain County coroner will determine the official cause of death.
