You Tell One LLEN BARNETT Wins VFW Contest
LLEN BARNETT of Hammond Indiana, age 79, won a large contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars after recounting a wild hunt tale. He claimed food scarcity in the west forced him to hunt with a single powder charge and two bullets. He killed a turkey with the first shot and a deer with the second, then pursued a fish hawk and retrieved a large fish. His run through a pond filled with frogs and a quail covey led to ten quail killed by a single kick. He also claimed to recover the fish and honey from a hive exposed by the deer bullet. He concluded he had plenty to eat.
