Periodically the edge should be thoroughly washed to avoid any possible food contamination. On some models the cutting wheel can be removed for cleaning. Work suds around the blade with a small stiff brush. Rinse, dry and lubricate blade lightly with vegetable or mineral oil. Read the instruction manual for your particular make and model for the easiest way to keep that can opener sparkling clean.
