Lorain city Buildings and Lands Committee reviewed a $460000 project for sanitary and storm sewers plus concrete paving in City View. City Engineer Charles Waryu outlined costs $225000 for sanitary sewers $115000 for storm sewers and $120000 for paving.
Wellington board of public affairs awards 1 800 foot waterline job to Clow Corp of Chester Co for 5 473. Four bids ranged from 5 421 to 5 493 with reasons cited for pipe type and plant availability. Waterline runs from Lincoln Street to North Main Street.
Lorain teachers and residents hear a 7:45 p m educational panel on WEOL addressing questions about gate receipts athletic schedules for Southview High School and financing. Speakers include Lorain Schools Superintendent Joe F Calta Edwin Cinninger director of athletics and moderator John W Pavic director of federal assistance programs. The program is a joint Lorain Elyria and Lorain County schools series with broadcast time donated by the station.
John Farrar of 1837 Grafton Road donated his 16th pint of blood to enter the Gallon Club at Lorain County Blood Bank located at Elyria Memorial Hospital. An Elyria resident for seven years he works as service supervisor at Penneys Auto Center in the Midway Mall. He and wife Pauline have three children in their 11 year marriage and Farrar attends Washington Avenue Christian Church. His hobbies include fishing and boating.
Kingwood Center opens its tulip display with 50 000 to 60 000 bulbs across over 100 varieties. The venue also features trees shrubs and a nature trail with wildflowers. The annual Arts and Crafts at Work show by the Brush and Palette Club runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Kingwood Exhibit Hall through next Sunday.
