Man survives 33 000 volt plunge at Avon Lake station
James Harris of Somerset Ohio attempted suicide by leaping from a booster tower of the Lake Shore Electric Railway at Stop 49 Avon Lake. He received 23 000 volts after contact with a bus bar and stanchion but survived in fair condition at St. Joseph’s Hospital Lorain. Harris said he acted from despondency over separation from his wife and son.

Fire destroys two story house in Ridgeville
A early morning blaze on Bagley road Ridgeville destroyed the two story frame home of John Staller. Firefighters from Ridgeville and neighbors battled the flames aided by cistern water but ran dry. The house was a total loss though first floor furnishings were saved.

Six Killed In Ohio Traffic
Six people died in Ohio weekend traffic incidents. Denzil Cutho and his wife Pauline were killed when their motorcycle hit a parked car on Route 1 near Carroll. Edward Baynes and Charles Clayton, both of Akron, died and were injured when Baynes’s car left the road near Mansfield and overturned. Four year old William Charles Thompson of Harrison, Ohio, died in a truck incident. Frank Van Karsen of Toledo died from a skull fracture after being struck by a car driven by Orville Long. William Gartwall, 89, was Cleveland’s other weekend traffic victim.

Cleveland Man Dies At Wheel Of Car
Benjamin Lamphier a 53 year old Cleveland man died at the wheel of his car as he neared the home of his daughter Mrs Henry McAllister at 196 Bath street near West River and Bath streets. The car rolled onto the sidewalk and stopped. Police said he was slumped over the wheel and was pronounced dead at Elyria Memorial Hospital.

Street Car Workers Press Pay Increase Demand
Thousands in Elyria Lorain and rail line between the cities faced a walkout set for 5 am Tuesday if wage demands are not met. Lorain Street Railway workers seek 70 cents an hour, up from 40, risking loss of public transport on the line and bus routes across Lorain. Firemen Answer Three Calls
Firemen responded to three automobile fires yesterday and early today with light damage in each. The first blaze at 10:05 yesterday involved Ralph Betz at 186 Cleveland Street where a car burned in the driveway from a damp cloth cleaned motor causing wiring damage. Betz put out the fire with water. Fire units Host Company No. 1 and Engine Company No. 2 responded. The second fire occurred at 34 last night in a car owned by Edward OConnor at 1206 Middle Avenue, with neighbors attempting to smother it before firefighters arrived with an extinguisher. Washington May 3 Douig J Cadek former captain of Cleveland police today was denied Supreme Court review of his conviction in Cuyahoga county common pleas court. He faced charges of soliciting and accepting bribes from bootleggers between 1924 and 1931 to influence his official duties.
