The 150,000,000 bushel Kansas wheat yield is expected this year as automation reduces reliance on harvest labor. Farmers anticipate widespread use of combines and reapers, with an estimated 15,000 extra workers from within the state and neighboring regions needed only modestly. Advances in tooling cut the required workforce, with projections showing farm laborers handling larger acreages than a century ago.
