Lorain County Board of Elections officials anticipate a low turnout for today’s primary election with renewals on the ballot. Director Paul Adams projects about 8 percent turnout of 84,852 registered voters, while Deputy Director Jim Kramer expects around 10 percent. Four years ago turnout was 13.5 percent due to three countywide issues. In person absentee ballots totaled 641 with mail ballots also sent.

Lorain voters see three independents for City Council seats. David McKenzie targets Ward 1 against either Brian Gates or Beth Henley after the Democratic primary. Elyria amends overtime rules for nonunion workers
Elyria City Council passed an amendment to Chapter 165 governing nonunion employees. The change removes the minimum overtime compensation requirement, effective immediately. Council discussed the measure since 2013 and unanimously approved the amendment with no final questions.
