James M. Coleman, 82, of Elyria, died April 29 2017 at home after a long illness. He was born October 16 1935 in Phelps Kentucky and lived in Elyria since 1956. He worked at Ford Motor Company retiring in 1994 and collected over 25 000 Hot Wheel cars and vintage Avon bottles. He is survived by sons Bill and Ken, grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings, and was preceded in death by his wife Anita. Visitation May 2 2017 and funeral May 3 2017 at Midway Baptist Church with burial at Brookdale Cemetery.

Six years for dog fighting ring and related charges
Charles Granberry of Columbus received six years in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to participate in a dog fighting ring and associated offenses. Prosecutors say he sold a dog to an undercover officer for 2500 in March 2016 and possessed gear to train and fight dogs. Over 20 dogs were found chained to car axles in a backyard. 46 dogs were seized across five Columbus homes, with 31 sick animals euthanized. A blood stained dogfighting pit was discovered in a basement. Granberry also pleaded guilty to illegal firearm possession and a probation violation. His attorney was not immediately available for comment.
