U.S. moves to sanction Nicaragua amid Central America tensions

The Reagan administration disclosed plans to embargo Nicaragua gua and bar U.S. access to Nicaraguan airlines and flag vessels as part of a broader stance against what officials call aggression in Central America. Gilford unit joins Corning Ciba venture for global diagnostics

Gilford Instrument Laboratories and other Corning units form a 50 50 venture with Ciba Geigy Ltd to create Ciba Corning Diagnostics Group. Mutual accord could rescind Payner pact in Lorain County

Lorain County Mental Retardation board approved Ellen Payner contract but prosecutor Greg White questions protections for the county. City Buys 32 Used California State Police Cars

The Finance Committee agreed to pay $116,000 for 32 used California State Police cars, with trade in of 32 city-owned vehicles. Most new cars will serve the Police Department while others go to various city departments. officials also approved a traffic light installation at North Abbe Road and Antioch Drive at an estimated $35,000.
