Extortion notes trigger shooting at Northeastern State
In Tahlequah Oklahoma a 19 year old farm girl Lois Thompson shot classmate George Hing Siew after receiving to day extortion notes. Siew denied writing the notes while postal inspectors compare handwriting. The extortionists demanded 3000 dollars and a brother of Thompson allegedly forced John Cannon to accompany him to the county attorney’s office.

Notes Linked Cannon Case Draws In Federal Inquiry
A girl may have seen Siew with Cannon and linked him to the notes. The officer noted some connections while Martin claimed exoneration. Cannon and his brother James were withdrawn from school by their father due to fears for their safety. Handwriting samples from the girl and her twin Hubert were sent to Kansas City for comparison with the notes. Authorities suspect extortionists may have mistaken Miss Thompson for the mayor's daughter.
