46 Groups Will Join In County Music Contest
Forty six Lorain County school musical groups will compete in the county band orchestra and glee club contest set for Saturday April 13 at Clearview School. The schedule runs 8 a m to 9 p m with a noon break and a gap between afternoon and evening events. Morning covers choral and glee clubs with 24 organizations. Judges will announce results at 9 30 a m for the glee group segment and 11 50 a m for the girls glee class. Afternoon features 22 instrumental groups with junior and Class B ensembles and Class A orchestras. Evening runs 7 45 p m to 8 15 p m with final class A band title. Olaf Christiansen and George Waln of the Oberlin Conservatory will judge vocal and instrumental sections.

Cleveland March 29 Two robbers held up the Continental Industrial bank offices today and escaped with between 3000 and 10000 dollars in cash. Four employees and eight customers were bound and forced to lie on the floor as one robber acted as lookout. Herman David vice president resisted being shoved into a tear room and was struck on the head with a can. Eight customers were met at the door as they entered one at a time and marched to the room where the workers had been imprisoned. They were tied.

Washington March 29 House leaders map a rush plan on social security and banking laws while pressing Senate action on the NRA extension. The Ways and Means Committee may have the security bill ready for action next week as the banking panel aims to complete a broad new banking program after social security moves. Amendments to the AAA and FCA appeared ready for House action. The leaders expect the tax extension bill to follow the security measures.
