Grafton boy admits burn tale was self defense claim
Jeffery M. Beckett, an ad youths accused of a gunpowder burn hoax, told sheriffs deputies the burns were for personal safety. He said he stole powder from his father’s gun rack and placed it behind Stoney's Canes. After an explosion he claimed six youths burned his face. Detectives uncovered the revised story at noon.
