LCCC Board OKs 3.5% Tuition Increase
Lorain County Community College trustees approve a 3.5 percent tuition rise starting in the summer session, raising per credit hour from 90.60 to 93.75 for most students and to 98.80 for Lorain County residents. Enrollment is projected to reach 10,229 full time equivalent students in 2010-11 amid state funding cuts.

Simpson guilty in 2007 robbery slaying
Neil Simpson of Lorain was convicted of being the masked gunman who killed Granny D's Pizza owner David Kowalczyk during a June 23 2007 robbery in Elyria. Kowalczyk's family wept as the verdict was read and a death penalty decision will follow.

Elyria man killed in mishap at salvage yard
Elyria resident Raymond T. Draper, 55, died after being struck by a bus frame portion at Reed Salvage on Royalton Road. The death Sunday was ruled an accident and will be investigated by OSHA. Draper died at MetroHealth Medical Center after the incident near noon.
